I'm Kostas Katsarakis, from Thessaloniki, Greece. For about 20 years I have put my own money into tree plantations, in East Africa and in Greece (Paulownia and Eucalyptus). This website is where I share what I have learned from that, and from the research behind my book.
What I am, and what I am not
- I am a long-term private investor in tree plantations, writing from personal experience.
- I am not a licensed financial adviser and not a forestry scientist. Nothing on this site is investment advice.
- Where I state a fact or a figure, I link the source. Where a claim cannot be checked, I say so.
How this website makes money
I want you to know exactly where my income comes from, so you can judge what I write:
- The book is free. Free Knowledge, Paid Experience is free to download. I ask only for your name and contact details, so I can talk to you personally. No newsletter, and your details are not shared with anyone.
- Referral commissions. Page 2 of this website includes referral links to plantation companies. If you buy through one of those links, I earn a commission. Every such link is marked.
Because of these commissions I am not neutral, and I say that openly. My weekly news digest never recommends or ranks companies.
My editorial rules
- Every figure has a source, and I prefer peer-reviewed research and official records.
- No return promises. Results depend on site, species, management and timber prices.
- News is summarised in my own words, with a link to the original.
- Corrections: if you find a mistake, email me. I will check it, fix it and note the correction.
