This policy explains what personal data this website (katsarakis-trees.com) uses, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What data is used, and why
- Getting the free book. To download the book you give your first name, last name, email address, phone number and the way you prefer to be contacted (Viber, WhatsApp or another option you name). These details are sent through Make.com to a private Google Sheet, and I get an email alert, so that I can contact you personally, by the way you chose. You will not be added to any newsletter or automatic email list. Legal basis: your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form and can withdraw at any time.
- Opening the rest of the website. When you submit the form, your browser receives an access cookie (
kt_access, valid for 1 year) so that Page 2 and the book download stay open for you on that device. It holds no personal details. Your first name and email are also kept in your browser's session storage until you close the tab, only to pre-fill the questionnaire on Page 2. Legal basis: necessary to provide what you asked for. - The questionnaire on Page 2. If you fill it in, your answers and contact details are sent through Make.com to the same private Google Sheet, and I get an email alert, so that I can reply to you. Legal basis: your request and consent.
- Earlier book purchases. If you bought the book through Payhip before it became free, Payhip sent me your name, email address and the unlock code linked to your purchase. Those records are kept as required for tax and legal purposes.
- Analytics (only if you accept). If you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 counts visits and shows which pages are used, including whether the form was sent and the book downloaded (without your name or contact details). It sets cookies (
_ga,_ga_*, up to 2 years). There is no advertising and no data is sold. If you click "No, thanks", Google Analytics is not loaded at all. Legal basis: consent. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. - Hosting. The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps short technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the service.
- Content from other services. The page loads fonts from Google Fonts, the videos from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and some tree photos from Wikimedia Commons. These services receive your IP address when they deliver that content.
Who receives the data
Only the services named above (Netlify, Make.com, Google, and Payhip for earlier purchases), acting as processors or independent providers. Some of them may process data outside the EU under their standard contractual safeguards. I do not sell, rent or share personal data with anyone else — including the tree-planting companies mentioned on this website. If you later ask me to put you in touch with one of them, I will only pass on your details with your agreement for that specific request.
How long it is kept
- Free-book and questionnaire details: up to 24 months after our last contact, or until you ask me to delete them, whichever comes first.
- Earlier purchase records: as long as needed for legal or tax obligations.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or export your data, object to its use, or withdraw consent at any time. Email me and I will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr).
